Keeping Eliza looking her best.

A Perth landmark bronze receives a regular beauty treatment.

Eliza is a well-known bronze sculpture located in Matilda Bay on the Swan River in Western Australia. Completed in 2007 by Tony Jones it commemorates the old Crawley Baths, which were a prominent Perth landmark during the early to the mid-20th century. The sculpture stands 2.2 metres high.

From 2007 to 2020 Paul Caporn and his team provided maintenance to this work at the request of the City of Perth. This particular work is often “decorated” by members of the public and the team have been required to remove clothing, string, signage, sticky residue from tape, blue tack and bird excrement. Additionally, in order to maintain the condition of the bronze the work was regularly cleaned, waxed and polished.
